Abstract

A group of French scholars from the Centre for the Study of Russia, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Central Asia headed by Dr. Isabelle Ohayon visited the Institute for Humanities Studies ABDI. The Centre was created in 2001 as a joint laboratory of the National Centre for Scientific Research and the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences. The Centre’s research focuses on the study of the diversity of Imperial and Soviet contexts in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. During the meeting with the staff of Institute for Humanities Studies ABDI, Dr. Ohayon spoke about the Centre’s activities, introduced the staff and presented the Centre’s publications. Dr. Isabelle Ohayon has been studying the history of Qazaqstan and Central Asia for many years, has visited various cities in Qazaqstan many times, worked in the archives of our country, and has extensive academic connections with scholars in Qazaqstan. From the Qazaq side the meeting was attended by the staff of the Institute for Humanities Studies ABDI and the Editorial Board of the scholarly journal "Qazaq Historical Review" (Svetlana Kozhirova, Albina Zhanbosinova, Nurlan Atygayev, Aliya Mombek).
