Этногеография и численность казахов Жетысу в конце XIX – начале ХХ века

Статья посвящена исследованию этногеографии и численности казахов Жетысу в конце XIX – начале ХХ веков. Результаты этнографического изучения казахов в XVIII – начале XX веков, предпринятого множеством исследователей, путешественников, чиновников царской администрации, офицеров Генерального штаба в рамках широкомасштабного исследования Жетысу, вкупе с архивными документами, статистическими данными, казахским фольклором и сведениями периодической печати явились исходным материалом для выявления особенностей традиционного родорасселения казахов Жетысу и дальнейшей его трансформации. Под Жетысу в данном исследовании подразумевается часть территории Семиреченской области конца XIX – начала XX веков, поскольку в рассматриваемый период казахи Жетысу образовали в составе Российской империи основное население Лепсинского, Копальского, Верненского и Джаркентского уездов Семиреченской области. В ходе исследования было выявлено, что расселение казахов на территории Семиреченской области было, прежде всего, обусловлено характером социально-экономических отношений и связанных с ними форм землепользования, господствовавших в этот период в казахском ауле, географическими особенностями региона, а также историческими и политическими событиями, происходившими в крае в XVIII – начале ХХ веков. Казахи, проживавшие на территории Жетысу, являются ярким примером группы, чьи традиционные модели родоплеменного расселения и социокультурная динамика со временем претерпели глубокие преобразования. Изучение расселения конкретных этнических групп дает представление о том, каким образом исторический контекст и географические факторы пересекаются, влияя и формируя жизнь местных сообществ.
